Care & Use
Position your PureTi Titanium Cutting Board on a clean, dry and level countertop before use. The natural weight of titanium helps the board sit securely during everyday preparation. For very smooth or slippery benchtops, place a non-slip silicone mat underneath for added stability. A compatible mat is available separately from the PureTi store.
Titanium offers a smooth, controlled cutting surface designed for everyday kitchen performance. Unlike glass or ceramic, it provides a more balanced feel against your knife edge, helping reduce unnecessary friction during chopping, slicing and preparation. Use with quality kitchen knives and normal cutting pressure for the best experience.
From fresh produce and citrus to seafood, meat, garlic, onions and other aromatic ingredients, titanium provides a clean, non-porous, non-reactive surface. It will not absorb odours, stain easily, or react with acidic foods, making it ideal for refined food preparation and simple clean-up between tasks.
Your board is designed for dual-sided use. The grooved side is ideal for ingredients that release juices, such as meats, fruits and cooked foods. While the smooth side is perfect for general chopping, slicing and serving preparation. Both sides offer the same durable titanium surface, allowing you to choose the side that best suits your task.
Important Safety Notice
Titanium is a smooth, rigid material and may move on polished stone, marble, granite, quartz, stainless steel or other slippery benchtop surfaces during use.
To help prevent slipping, protect your benchtop and ensure a safer cutting experience, we strongly recommend placing a suitable anti-slip mat underneath your PureTi titanium cutting board before every use.
Do not use the cutting board directly on delicate or easily scratched surfaces without protection.

Avoid
With regular use, fine surface lines may appear where your knife meets the board. This is completely normal for a high-performance cutting surface. These marks are cosmetic only and reflect the board’s role in everyday preparation, providing a durable, stable surface between your knife and the benchtop.
Light knife marks do not affect the strength, safety or usability of your titanium cutting board. The board will continue to perform as intended, offering a smooth preparation surface that is easy to rinse, wash and maintain. Its durability is designed to remain consistent through years of daily use.
Unlike softer cutting surfaces that can develop deeper grooves over time, titanium is hard, dense and non-porous. Surface marks remain shallow and do not absorb moisture, odours or food residue in the same way as traditional plastic or wooden boards. This helps maintain a cleaner, more refined food preparation experience.
Think of these marks as part of the board’s natural evolution, similar to the soft patina of premium leather or the gentle wear of a well-loved kitchen tool. Over time, your board develops its own unique finish, showing that it is being used, enjoyed and trusted in the kitchen.
To preserve a smoother appearance, use a controlled slicing motion rather than heavy chopping. Avoid repeatedly using serrated knives, cleavers or excessive force in the same area. You may also alternate between both sides of the board to distribute use evenly and maintain a balanced surface finish.
Fine knife marks and natural surface changes are expected with use and are not considered defects. They do not affect food preparation, cleaning performance, or the integrity of the titanium surface. Your board is designed to be used daily, not simply displayed.
- After each use, rinse your titanium cutting board under warm running water to remove surface residue. For a deeper clean, use a soft sponge or cloth with a small amount of mild dish soap, then rinse thoroughly and dry with a clean towel. The smooth titanium surface is designed for simple, refined cleaning after every preparation.
- Your titanium board is designed to withstand regular dishwasher use without warping, cracking or absorbing moisture. Unlike traditional wood or bamboo boards, titanium maintains its form and finish through repeated wash cycles. Place it securely in the dishwasher, then remove and dry before storing.
- For ingredients with strong colour or aroma, such as turmeric, beetroot, garlic, onion, or spices, apply a gentle paste made from baking soda and water. Leave it on the surface for a few minutes, then wipe clean with a soft sponge and rinse well. For a naturally fresh finish, you may also wipe the surface with lemon before rinsing and drying.
- Avoid Harsh Cleaning Methods
- Steel wool, metal scourers, abrasive powders, bleach and harsh chemical cleaners are not recommended. These products are unnecessary for titanium and may leave cosmetic surface marks. Warm water, mild dish soap and a soft sponge are all that is required to keep your board clean and ready for use.
- Wooden and bamboo boards often require ongoing oiling, drying and conditioning to help prevent cracking, swelling and moisture damage. Titanium requires none of this maintenance. No oils, no treatments, no reconditioning simply wash, dry and enjoy a cleaner, more modern preparation surface.

Titanium is strong and long-lasting. For stainless steel, cast iron, carbon steel and other durable cookware, your utensils can be used with normal care. For delicate non-stick or coated cookware, use a gentle touch and avoid scraping aggressively, as any metal utensil may mark sensitive coatings.
Titanium is heat resistant, but utensils may become hot if left resting in cookware, over a flame, or near a heat source. Avoid leaving utensils inside hot pans for extended periods and always handle with care after exposure to heat.

With regular use, your titanium utensils may develop light surface marks from contact with cookware, plates, bowls or other utensils. This is normal for high-quality metal kitchen tools and does not affect their performance.
Fine cosmetic marks do not weaken the titanium or change the way your utensils cook, serve or clean. The material remains strong, stable and suitable for everyday use, even as the surface develops its own subtle character over time.
Titanium does not absorb moisture, odours or food residue like some traditional materials can. Its non-porous nature helps maintain a clean surface that rinses easily and is simple to care for after preparing different types of food.
Over time, your utensils may develop a soft, lived-in finish. Rather than a flaw, this is part of the natural evolution of a premium kitchen tool. Like well-used stainless steel cookware or a favourite chef’s knife, these marks reflect regular use and lasting quality.
To preserve a smoother appearance, avoid scraping heavily against cookware, plates or bowls. Store utensils separately where possible, or use a drawer organiser to reduce contact marks from other metal tools.
Light surface marks, minor changes in sheen and natural signs of use are expected. They are cosmetic only and do not affect food safety, cleaning performance or the integrity of the titanium.
- After each use, rinse your titanium utensils under warm running water to remove food residue. For a more complete clean, wash with mild dish soap and a soft sponge or cloth, then rinse thoroughly and dry with a clean towel.

- Avoid Harsh Cleaning Methods
- Steel wool, metal scourers, abrasive powders, bleach and harsh chemical cleaners are not recommended. These products are unnecessary and may leave cosmetic marks on the surface. Mild soap, warm water and a soft sponge are all that is needed for daily care.

Important details
Natural heat discolouration: Pure titanium may naturally develop gold, blue, purple or darker tones when exposed to high temperatures. This is a characteristic of titanium and does not necessarily indicate damage to the product.
Important: PureTi Titanium Baking Trays are made from uncoated titanium and do not contain a conventional non-stick coating. They should not be seasoned using traditional cast-iron or carbon-steel seasoning methods.
Recommended
Olive oil, avocado oil, butter, coconut oil, ghee or cooking spray can all be used to help improve food release and support even browning.
For best results, preheat your oven before placing the tray inside. A properly heated oven helps food cook more evenly and reduces sticking.
For delicate foods, sticky marinades, pastries, or easy clean-up, baking paper or a silicone baking mat can be used.
If food is sticking, give it a little more time before lifting or turning. As the surface browns and moisture reduces, many foods will release more easily.
Your titanium baking tray can be placed in the dishwasher. For the best long-term finish, dry thoroughly before storing.
Avoid
Titanium retains and transfers heat efficiently. Very high temperatures are not always needed and may cause excessive browning, sticking, or oil burning.
Titanium is not Teflon or ceramic-coated. Food may not slide freely without oil, preheating, or proper cooking time.
For roasting, crisping, or searing-style results, allow the oven to fully preheat before use. A cold tray can increase sticking and uneven cooking.
If food resists when you try to move it, it may not be ready. Allow more time for natural release.
Avoid cutting on the tray or using metal scrapers, forks, or knives. Use silicone, wooden, or heat-resistant plastic utensils to help preserve the surface finish.
Never place a hot tray directly under cold water or onto a cold wet surface. Allow it to cool naturally before cleaning.
To prevent future marks, don't leave the empty tray in the oven at high heat for too long.
Your titanium baking tray is suitable for use with most everyday cooking oils, fats and sprays. Select the option that best matches your recipe, flavour preference and oven temperature.
Common choices include:
- Olive oil
- Avocado oil
- Grapeseed oil
- Coconut oil
- Butter
- Ghee
- Sesame oil
- Cooking spray or oil mist
For most baking and roasting, only a light coating is needed. Brush or spray a thin layer across the tray or coat the food directly before placing it on the surface. This helps support even browning, easier food release and a cleaner finish after cooking.
Avoid using too much oil, as excess oil can pool, smoke or leave baked-on residue at higher temperatures.
A fine layer of oil works especially well for vegetables, meat, seafood, potatoes, pastries and marinated foods. For delicate, sticky or sugar-based recipes, we recommend using baking paper or a silicone baking mat for added protection and easier clean-up.
Different oils perform best at different temperatures. For high-heat roasting, choose oils with a higher smoke point, such as avocado oil or grapeseed oil. If oil begins to smoke heavily, reduce the oven temperature or switch to a more heat-stable oil.
- Apply a thin, even layer only
- Use high-smoke-point oils for hotter oven settings
- Avoid heavy oil pooling on the tray
- Use baking paper for sticky or delicate foods
- Reduce heat if oil begins to smoke excessively
- Clean away oil residue after each use to preserve the finish
Your titanium baking tray arrives with a clean, bright silver finish. This is the natural appearance of uncoated titanium — no artificial coating, no chemical non-stick layer and no complicated preparation required. Before first use, simply wash with warm water and mild dish soap, dry thoroughly and your tray is ready for baking or roasting.
After the first few uses, you may notice soft golden, straw or warm-toned marks appearing on the surface. This is a normal response to heat exposure. It is the beginning of the tray's natural surface evolution as titanium reacts to repeated oven use.
With continued baking and roasting, the surface may develop deeper bronze, blue, violet or rainbow-like tones. These colours will vary depending on temperature, cooking style and where heat is most concentrated. Each tray develops differently, creating a unique finish that reflects the way it is used in your kitchen.
